Access Institute’s 2021 Spectrum Gala and Art Auction will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Pier 27 in San Francisco. This year promises to be extra exciting as we return to an in-person celebration with over 300 community members, civic leaders, artists, mental health professionals, and honored guests for a spectacular evening featuring our signature art auction. Our goal is to raise more than $500,000 to support free and affordable mental healthcare for those with greatest need and least access.
Our 2021 event theme is “Resilience Reimagined”. The past, COVID, year brought home for all of us the way external events can have traumatic impacts. However, many are coming out of it with more resilience than others. While it might seem like the ability to “bounce back” is an innate quality that some possess and others don’t, resiliency is a quality that can be developed, which is why access to high-quality mental health care is more important now than ever before. As we emerge from the pandemic, Access Institute is committed to helping increase emotional resilience for our most vulnerable community members.
At Spectrum 2021, we will honor Karan Singh, Founder and COO of Ginger, an on-demand mental health system. Karan shares our mission and belief that high-quality mental healthcare should be available to all. Says Karan, “Just over a decade ago, I was on the other end of a phone call after a loved one tried to take their own life. It shook me to my core. I’ve always thought of myself as emotionally in-touch with a good read on people. But I was blindsided. As I started to dig deeper, I realized culturally, socially, and emotionally, mental health was a tough topic to broach with family and friends. Fortunately, my loved one is still here, but the system hasn’t changed. I knew I needed to do something about it.”
At Access Institute, we also know there is something we need to do about it, especially this year as we experience ever increasing demand for our services. With your help, we can achieve this goal and meet this expanding need.
